At Envirotech, our work doesn’t stop when we leave site.

Across the business, our colleagues give their time, experience and energy to causes that matter to them and the communities in which they live. Whether that’s supporting local charities, coaching sports teams, volunteering with youth organisations or raising money for good causes, these are the stories that reflect who we are as people.

This month we’d like to introduce Matthew Ireland, one of our Facilities Managers based in the North, who spends much of his free time coaching at Swillington Saints Junior Football Club in Leeds.

Matthew coaches both the Under 9s and Under 12s teams, where his two sons, William and Elliott, play. Still an active player himself – turning out for Stanningley Old Boys in the Leeds Division 1, West Riding County FA Veterans League – he is passionate about passing on his experience and knowledge of the game to the next generation.

Speaking about his role, Matthew says:

“I coach for both the U9s and U12s football teams at Swillington. My two sons, William and Elliott, both play football for the teams, with William recently winning the Garforth League U11s Cup. I still actively play football for Stanningley Old Boys in Leeds Div 1 – West Riding County FA Veterans League, and I am trying to pass on my experience and knowledge of the game to the children at Swillington. It is a very rewarding position which I have enjoyed greatly over the last four years, and I look forward to continuing on over the coming years. I strongly believe that sport provides a great base for children to develop many key life skills including team work, communication, discipline and resilience.”

As a certified B Corporation, Envirotech is committed to creating value beyond the workplace. That isn’t achieved solely through environmental initiatives or corporate policies; it is demonstrated every day by colleagues who choose to support the communities around them.

Matthew’s work with Swillington Saints Junior Football Club is one example of the many ways our people make a difference outside their professional roles. Our People, Our Communities is about celebrating those stories.
